Why I Pink... My story

My moms was diagnosed with stage 4 Breast cancer in September of 2008! We found out after coming home from ATL running from a hurricane.

Her first chemo treatment took all her hair. I remember me & my SNL taking braids out and her hair just came from the scalp. We literally just removed whole braids. If you knew Pearl you know she still rocked a bald head like a boss!! Lol.

Over those 3 months I watch my mom really go thru it, but she still wore a smile and her personality stayed strong. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday she had to lock up in her room because her immune system was low and anything could of made her sick. We had to use facial mask and sanitizer every time anyone would enter the room.

I can recall nights I would sing to her while she prayed to God to take away the pain. Two weeks before she passed we went in for her treatment and they told us she had an upper respiratory infection and couldn't get treatment that day.

That Friday we went back and the cancer had spread into her chest. That day she entered Chabert and never left. During those 3 months we didn't lack financially. We were blessed to not have to worry about medical bills or the house but I fought that battle by her side Day in and out, every appointment, late night, early morning, hospital stay...I watched her good days and bad. My fight was mentally and spiritually.

I Pink for is for those who have the worries we didn't, the medical bills, maintaining the house, worrying about tomorrow. I Pink because I know what's it's like to watch someone fight like a girl and even tho we didn't have the concerns of many, I want people to know that there are others who understand and support you in this fight!!!

I Pink because I care, I Pink because I can, I Pink because it's what I'm suppose to do.

I Pink for Pearl & I Pink with a purpose!!!
